Launch of Woods for People - Version 2

Woods for People is a collaborative project between the Woodland Trust and the Forestry Commission to identify woodland with public access across the UK.

Environment Systems staff have worked on Woods for People now since the project inception in 2001 and have seen the project develop through the initial research, to the launch of version 1 and now version 2.

The Woodland Trust and Forestry Commission share the common strategic objective to improve public access to woodland within the UK. This shared objective led to the joint approach of researching and collecting data on existing woodland with public access. The data collected to date makes up the only UK-wide dataset on accessible woodland and the only UK-wide contact list of public and voluntary sector woodland owners and managers
